Sorry to hear about the spill.
I learned long ago that my Hobie is not a surfboard. They turn sideways quickly and you will get your face washed in close interval surf. Given this knowledge I almost always use the peddles on my return and bungee them in the "up position as I near the shallow water" Then step out and grab the stern to walk the kayak to shore. --------------------------------- In very steep surf I have swam the boat in while on the stern handle. I am not the only one that has done this before. |
