Braid
Another thing to think about. 40 lb. braid is real thin. Be very careful with that stuff around big fish and heavy iron. It can cut you up pretty bad if you get you fingers in the way at the wrong time. Great for cutting kelp and skin!

I don't want the knot to go through the guides on the cast. Either go with a topshot longer than you can cast or just use a couple of feet as a leader. With iron I go for the long topshot and short for a kelp cutter rig.
