IMO it all depends on what your needs are(budget too)

I have 3 9ah lead batteries that I bought for under $50. No waterproof case and ZERO issues. Would I like a slightly lighter battery? Sure... but there is no way I am spending over $2-300 on batteries. I need at least two to use when I go camping.

Another thing worth mentioning is Lifepo4 has an estimated 2000+ charge cycles as compared to the NOCQUA estimated 500 Charge cycles.

Seems like you would be OK either way, if your battery being light-weight and portable is important to you maybe the nocqua is the right battery for you. Otherwise you can't go wrong with a lifepo4.

IF I can make 500 trips in one kayak I will gladly replace the battery if I get to fish that much!

I used a similar battery but 9ah. Bought 3 for around $50 from what I remember. They fit in the hobie battery tray inside my center hatch. Will a 2lb battery be better than these "heavy" 5 pounders? Yup, but I already carry a bunch of crap and it wouldn't make a difference to me. I've have zero issues too. Only thing I needed to do is redo the wires to the terminals. I added chain oil to prevent rust.

I do however want to make a big lightweight pack to add more electronics to my kayak. Like bow, stern, and navigation lights. It be nice to run everything off one battery. But for just the ff, nothing fancy is need for ME in my Pro Angler.
