Sweet, I will be there as well with my girlfriend. I will be bringing up my Yellow Outback on a trailer pulled behind my van. Saturday we are camping up Bishop Creek near lake Sabrina and then we will arrive at Silver Lake campground Sunday morning (fingers crossed we get one of the walk up sites, I didn't plan this trip till everything was already booked).
Funny thing is I recently bought crawdad traps and some seasoning for a crawdad boil because one of your earlier posts inspired me to try it out. Even if the fishing isn't good I just love being there and hanging out and hiking around! Hope to see you there! |

Campsites
DeltaDelta...We'll be in campsite #24 at the west end of the campground near the lake and the boat launch.
You should be able to find a campsite at the east end of the campground if none of the walkups at the west end are available. "Even if the fishing isn't good I just love being there and hanging out and hiking around!"...the fishing in Rush creek is usually pretty good...you'll have a blast taking the kayak down the creek...even if it's really windy or the fish aren't biting in the lake...the Creek is a great area. We were planning on having the crawdad boil on Monday night so your travel plans should work perfect.

Nice, you got a good spot, I camped site 25 last year and it was super nice being close to the water. All the times I have been to silver lake I have been restricted to fishing from the shore and the fishing was good, but now with the kayak I'm excited I can explore new areas.
As for crawfish do you have any tips on where to put my traps? Like depth, general location (creek vs lake), etc? If you want to keep it a secret thats fine! |

Web Cam
Its not the La Jolla web cam...but it sure looks nice up there today...!
http://silverlakeresort.net/live-webcam-lake/ Deltadelta...both the creek and lake were good for the Crawdads. The Lake seemed better on the side opposite the campground and road...the shadier side with a better drop-off and more structure (rocks and tree roots) held better numbers...typical of crustaceans. Gull Lake and June Lake were the same, with the better catch on that type of terrain. The creek was Ok, but with an overnight soak we felt that we had to hide our traps since we couldn't keep an eye on them like we could at the lake. There are some big Crawdads walking around on the creek bottom out near the lake entrance... if you payed attention to the bottom you could net them while they were out in the daytime.
