I am wondering how I can catch a yellowtail without a fish finder?

I have a live bait tank and everything else you would need to catch a fish but how do you find them? lol, I just dont know if I have enough room for a fish finder on my yak and am on a budget. Anyone have any tips or tricks on how to find the yellowtail right now? During the summer I would just slow troll around hoping for a hit. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Hey sorry I wasnt clear, I upgraded my kayak from a malibu stealth to a hobie. Ive been kayak fishing for about 2.5 years now but just started targeting bigger fish this last year. Thanks for the tip!

Wow thanks you guys! This is really helpful and I am going to invest in a fish finder since it seems to be an invaluable tool. I need to just get out there more often put in the time. . I'm fairly young (22) so thanks for all of your patience and help with the young pup .
