Just out of curiosity I looked it up and SD is within that species of Sea Snakes's distributed area. I'd imagine it's still quite uncommon to see one; Very cool find!

Saw the same type of snake about 6 miles out about 10 feet under me. At first I thought it was a piece of weird colored kelp....but after seeing your picture it sure as heck was as sea snake.
