True, but UPS are only good for a couple hours anyway. I'm working with the Electrical engineers managing Fashion Island and they're replacing 5 year old battery backup systems, basically a million bucks down the drain on a system that wasn't maintained. Now they're going to generators. Diesel generators will last 30-40 years no problem.

UPS are not intended as a long-term power supply. They are only there to support a "graceful shutdown".

Anyone who tells you otherwise is not an Electrical Engineer.

Your only going to want a UPS if all you're backing up its emergency lighting. Not pumps. And can't use UPS if it's a fire life safety, NFPA110, OSHPD, and other such facilities, which I doubt this was.
