If u are going this weekend i don't know if it's safe due to the amount of people in the water. That place is a zoo! The barge is a couple of hundred yards from the mouth, you can't miss it. But before heading thst way I would call and see what they are offering. A couple of weeks ago it was nothing but huge dines.

There's a bunch of decent size chovies at the barge now. As for beach launching, the lifeguards might get pissed when you try to land the kayak later in the day because of all the people in the water. I would just launch at the Coast Guard ramp, a little extra paddle doesn't hurt.

I launched from the CG station last Monday at 7am and got my fill of squid. Picked up a couple of short butts on the drift from the mouth and 12 spotties for the day. All in all a great 58th birthday!
