Jimmy, I think you have it covered and yes, leashes for everything! Not a matter of if but when. You will get wet!

So far I have been lucky not to go in, but I'm sure one day it will happen. I have a paddle leash attached all the time, as well as everything else is leashed. If you don't want to lose it, leash it.
