SUP Fishing anyone?

So, due to austerity measures in my household, I get on the water with whatever I can whenever I can. This led me to go from surfboard fishing to SUP fishing. I know I'm not going to be as prepared as a kayak fisherman, but I have been able to rig up a board to get the job done. Anyone else doing this?

I do it when I can, much more susceptible to the wind, so I opt for the kayak more often. Fun way to keep it simple. Does not take much of a fish to take you for a stand up sleigh ride!

This was a couple nights ago, after work in the harbor.

This is Jimmy Styks Blue Heron Fishing SUP that just came out. I am liking it. Easy to add stuff like the crate etc. Webbing up front and lots of attachment points to rig it the way you want.

Good, so I won't get laughed off the water! I know what you mean about the sleigh ride, I had one on off Del Mar then

I ditched my kayaks for the SUP for fishing. But, still mostly go back to my 9'8" longboard. I'm in Carlsbad. If you ever want to board fish hit me up. I mostly go in the evening or fri-sat.
probably hit it tonight around tamarack if the swell isn't right for surfing.

"ditched the kayak for an SUP" I imagine it would be a kick though

I use my SUP for places it is hard to kayak. I tried the San Diego River channel for Halibut, but no luck.

I also launched at OB pier, trying to fish right along the rocks at Point Loma, and also no luck.

It is kinda cool, but of course more tippy, and simply less stuff to bring. I thought I would do it more than I do. I can definitely see the love of getting out quickly, maybe for a short time through the surf.

There is even a vest with a rod holder on it that I got at a fishing show, pretty cool.

I have heard that one guy hooked a thresher shark in La Jolla and it towed him all the way to Del Mar! He tried to paddle it back, even though a power boat offered him a ride. Then, apparently a larger shark appeared deeper than the shark being towed, and then the guy jumped in the boat.
