can we eat sea urchins - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Not exactly kayak related unless you roll over with your nose to the sand. But are all the sea urchins are edible???are some better then the others??? Im talking about what we got over on the west coast. I love to eat sea urchin and seen plenty of them while kayaking so been wondering.

I'm thinking you can't even keep them. I know there's a sh*t load of restrictions that the DFG has, perhaps you can call or email them to confirm that you can actually pull and keep them. Do they taste like chicken?

That's nasty.

But I love those fish in the background scootin' out from the rock to inhale the urchin goo. Just further proof that Tommy's Butta' is the shiznit.

Ugh,
Uni in Japanese, is the roe of the urchin, the egg sack.
It's super buttery, creamy even if you get if fresh out of the urchin.
Makes me puke on command.
But if you can tolerate it, I guess there's nothin better.
My wife goes nutty for the stuff (being Japanese and all).
Good luck with that.
