Very fishy out there this morning. launched around 5:45 no wind, no surf. Bait was easy all over. Water pretty clean, temp 64 degrees. Trolled along between 55 and 70 feet out to the zone for nothing but nervous baits. Some birds popped up on the outside and trolled out that way. In 80 to 110 feet of water there was a big area of bait being harassed by schools of small barracuda. Trolled back out of there toward the kelp. Back in 60 feet of water got a strong zip then nothing. Finally around 9:30 or so got a sustained bite on the right kind which results in a 42lb sea bass. Paddling back in there were nice marks all the way from in front of the condo to the edge of the reserve. Good luck pm crew.

nice job Cabman! you got a fatty!

so much bait out there..
released 2 legals, both about 10-12# models between 6am-630am wanted a big momma so bad..
around 8am saw some bird activity and finally decided to go take a look.. mini cudas everywhere then i finally saw some BIG footprints and deepwater boils, thought they were YT and big ones too.. but before i could get to them one of my greenies went off..
fiesty 30# noisy bass...

i'll try again tomorrow AM.. i could have swore i saw yellowtails and they looked big!!!
64 degrees, it's only a matter of time before the big YT school comes through!

good luck.

thursday AM

Andy
was hoping the BIG YT's were there this morning(thursday), but nada for me..
had some cocktails last night so the early early was not gonna happen for me.. pushed out of bed and got to the spot around 645am..
lots of bait still around..
looked around til 10am and couldn't take the furbags any longer so gave up..
it feels so wierd fishing in 60' on a spot that would have had you smack dab in the middle of weeds last year...

good luck..
i'm over blackened fish tacos.. someone bring back the hamachi sashimi
