East Cape Report

Again, I'm pretty pressed for time so this will be a shortened version...

My drama - TSA (I think the A stands for assholes) broke 2 of my 4 rods while inspecting them. I found them and their tips taped to the foam inside the bazooka tube. Kinda put a damper on the trip, but we just made due without them.

Fishing over was kinda slow as Jim mentioned... I was not on the trip with Jim. We stayed in Buena Vista just 5 minutes South of Los Barriles. I was able to land 2 15lb tuna on day one, one 50ish on day two and 1 more 15lb on day 3.

The 50lber on day two was taken on my avet sx on 50lb izor topped with 20lb fluorocarbon. I fought that fish for a little over an hour...

Black hat = Fish - right JP?

I would gladly snap a few rods in half to have that experience. The combination of great fishing, adventure in Baja and sharing that with your father is priceless. Good report. Thanks

Nice fish on the light gear.

I'm heading to Bahia Asuncion in a couple of weeks with a few BWE guys.

-They told us to bring our heaviest gear for the tuna offshore, but I want to fish from the beach too.

So I'm making a ABS rod tube to take a 9' jigstick for the beach Halibut and Yellows
----------------
We're going to LA Bay on the way home for a few days

You da' man...

I don't think it's the hat, Nic---you can fish! A fifty pound YFT will completely kick your ass on 20 lb fluorocarbon. With those little teeth and their speed, you've got your hands full. That's a trophy in my book, bro. Well done!

This is the biggest catch of all, though. What I would do to be able to share fishing with my father. Epic photo .

X3. That one Tuna battle would have made the entire trip for me. Love a big fish on tackle less than what most peeps would use for them.
