The Game Warden Showed Up, But We Caught Plenty of Sheephead For A Catch And Cook!”

Location: Dana Point, CA...the Strand!

It was opening day for Rock Fish so I decided to target Sheephead as usual. I didn’t limit or have a steady bite, but the fish I caught were all about quality!

My stringer was 13”, then 15”, 15.5”, & 17”. Not too bad! The Game Warden came for a visit but all was good to go.

I was using market shrimp for bait. My setup was basically a knocker rig consisting of a 1/0 light wire circle hook, 3/4 oz egg sinker, and a bead.

Creating fishing videos are pretty amazing but time consuming to put together, yet I truly love making and sharing them with all of you. I love being on the water and I want you to see what I see!

Thank you!

I was just lucky enough to catch a break in the weather. I passed on this weekend. The swells were up and were in close sets. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

Always a welcome sight for me, Game wardens rock, just wish we had more to preserve / protect this awesome West Coast fishery.

Dana Point Harbor. There's a paid launch closer to the mouth, or go to the NE end and launch from the small beach there.

Parking at baby beach is free but you need to get there 6:15-6:30am or else you will lose out on prime parking.

If you launch at the boat ramp I think it costs $20
