Launched at a gentlemanly 7:30 today from Shelter Island with Lady Pike. Bass were biting the moment we got in the water. I think the Uni Butter had something to do with it.

I managed a decent spotty and a baby spotty on an underspin with a 3" gulp shad. The larger fish wrapped himself around something on the bottom, and I have no idea how I managed to pull him out without breaking off the fluoro. Sometimes you just get lucky.

She was getting tons of short bites on the 5" green swimbait doused in uni butter. Stopped what I was doing to give a quick lesson on setting the hook: "Don't try to pull him straight off the bottom and into the boat, just a little pump when you feel the bite."

With pleasure, I can say that she's got it figured out now. First two fish ever!
