Fishing Podcasts

YouTube as well....
What do you listen to?

I'm most interested in west coast saltwater shows with tips and techniques that will help me fish better. Seems like most of the shows are guys whooping it up and being stoked, or travelling, or selling something, or doing stuff we don't have out here.

I like the Let’s Talk Hookup archives and a new one called the SoCal Fishing Podcast... On the Let's talk hookup episodes I particularly like the ones with a sport boat captain rather than the vendor shows. Search for episodes with Ryan Bostian, he gives out excellent tips for our style of fishing. Also Brandon Hayward episodes.

Ron Lane from Fastlane is on there a couple times a year to talk kayak fishing. Unfortunately I never learn anything because he always repeats the same thing: Kayak fishing is great. Mirage drive is great. Hobie is great. He's super stoked. Come buy a kayak from him....... Missed opportunity to share good information from my perspective.

Check out utube for the Inside Sportfishing Channel, Michael Folwkes is posting videos from his catalogue of shows that appeared on WFN or Fox Sports in the past. It is a sweet library, some I had seen before but is nice to have them on demand. Helps with tips and just in general enjoying the Fishing Porn.

Cast and crank has a few good episodes. Have to weed through the green bass ones though. I’m not a big freshwater guy either.

I don't listen to any fishing podcasts but one of the main channels I watch on youtube is flying fish tv. Kayak fisherman out of Hawaii chasing pelagics.

Click on archives.

Not a shameless sales pitch like Let's Talk Hookup.

Here is a few

I'm a bit of a podcast junkie, not just fishing podcast but tons of topics. How ever in the fishing realm I like these:

Raw H20 Podcast, formerly extreme kayak fishing podcast: Hosted By Joe Hector owner of EKFT, based in South Florida, tons of guests and guys you know of. New episodes on about a monthly basis. This is one of the best podcast I have found in general, very entertaining, good guests and many topics covered, not limited to but mostly kayak fishing.

The Worlds Greatest Fishing Podcast - Tons of good info here, Hosted by Paul Moritz (maybe spelled wrong) and based in San Diego, unfortunately they stopped producing new content 3 or 4 years ago. The episodes are available for download and the content is great.

Cast and Spear - More spear fishing centric but many good guests and the Coach from SDfish hosts an episode ones in a while. New episodes weekly, hosted by Jon Stenstrom. Great overall fishing infomoration and some scientific discussions about the fisheries around us, etc.

Honorable Mentions:

The Spear - I have never listened to this podcast, but its hosted by Roman Castro, a San Diego angler who specializes in kayak fishing these days. Most of you are probably familiar with him from his youtube presence, tons of good info on his channel.

Kayak Fishing with Jim Sammons - I haven't listened to this podcast yet but Sammons is one of the OGs in the game. Looks like its updated once a month.

edit: fwiw I agree with the last part of your post alot of guys are shills for X company one modern podcasts. Also some guys on youtube who i think are pretty cool to watch that seem to be relatively unbiased are EliasV fishing, hes east coast but his techniques are transferable to west coast species. John skinner fishing is another one, again east coaster but techniques are transferable to our waters. Flying fish TV is another cool one as mentioned above. A couple of the guys I like to fish with out here have channels as well, inshore stuff but good info. Southwest kayak fishing, and oc outdoorsman.

Big +1 on Roman Castro. He actually has a radio show every weeknight at 7 that published a week later for rewatch. I think Kevin Nakada's on tonight actually. Really nice guy and a great show.
