same deal..
tonnage of bait halfway in 60'
current ripping south nicely all morning.. looked like a beeyatch for those padding back, they looked like they were in a stalemate trying to make it back..

good fishing....around the NW corner in 65-80'
took my friend and he went 3 for 4, 10-13# models, one 18#.. he dumped a good one halfway through the fight, J-hook pulled..
lots of bonies making it a noisey clicker morning...
one monster fatty calico that luckily ate the rig with the circle hook and was released nicely..
he had a blast and today and got an aching left bicep!!!

How do you guys hook your Macs? I have been using 5/0 hooks, hooking the Mac in front of the eyes and giving a 10 count after I get bit. I get short bit sooo much it's frusterating. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the report, Nelz... PM shift for me tomorrow.

5/0 hook's are huge. Drop down to a 1/0 or 2/0, hook through the nose/nostrils.

Excellent video. Congrats to both of you on your yellowtail scores. Love seeing newbies getting worked by good yellows. So many just don't know what they are in for

Looks like the ghosts like the water a little cooler..I hit the PM tues, water was kinda chilly... just brought a bass rod and fished plastic.. got 2 c-bass

a 22" and a 26" .. also had a 15-20 lb. WSB follow it right to the boat.. saw a dude on BD nabbed a nice white..they could be on the chew again...

WoW... I use a 2/0 ringed flyliner or circle... I also find that the hook doesn't get tangled in the eyesocket or turned a weird way if you hook it throught the meaty part behind the head.. just thread it under the skin but not too deep to where you sever the spinal cord.. they take off when you let em go and when you drag em, they tend to swim a few feet lower on the surface... gl...

Nice video, Sweet job on a great day.
I use a 1/0 thru the nose. If the dogs are out chewing the bodies off or my bait stays too close to the surface and I'm not slow trolling, I hool them behind the ass. That'll make them swim down, and keep the dogs off my bait.

"Keeping a bend in the rod" is not easy to learn for the newbies. When my wife is reeling something in, there are moments where I just can't watch :shock: !

Skip will be hooked on fishing in no time!

btw We are hitting the reefs early tomorrow!

A good guide to hook size is it should be as wide as the head of the bait.

the video is shot with my digital camera..Sony dsc-T5.. i'm surprised at the quality and audio from such a tiny little camera.. the video was bumped way down in resolution too, the original file was like 100mb and the quality looked insane.. awesome slow motion too.. such great technology we enjoy these days!

yeah, Skipp's been scolded by me a few times.. he's caught a couple before this trip a couple years ago, and survived a few cold winter yoyo skunks....so yeah he's hooked now..
watching it i felt bad i yelled at him so much.. but yeah, oh a few times i could not bare to watch all the slack line he offered the fish... with straight spectra, minimal stretch, slack line is a bad thing.. especially when he'd pump too vertical and not wind down enough..
he did pull the hook on one but it had such a wierd hookset i felt it was bound to happen.. the fish took the clicker, then swam with us for a bit as i tried to gently pick up the slack before setting the hook... it wasn't those screaming clickers that i love setting the hook on..
