Shelter Island 3-22-15

I launched yesterday at Shelter Island around 3:30pm and drifted down past Harbor Island. Finished up around 8:30PM and ended up with half a dozen bass, sculpin and a 21" halibut at sunset. I was using zoom jerk shad on the drop shot and 6" big hammers.

Making sculpin ceviche for the Mrs. tonight.

Well, my uncle and I went in search for 'but. Went to the bait receiver and got some fabulous sardines. We fished from 0630 to 1500. For the day, we ended up with a handful each of fat bass, spotties and sandies. I got two halibut, one about 18" and one 21.5ish.... Lost a few good bites. Overall, action was moderate. But what a remarkable day on the water with family!

I sure hope not. Last time I checked they were open, but I think they posted an update a couple weeks ago:

"Statewide closure of the California scorpionfish fishery from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31"
