Really good price on that, keep in my the "X" signifies sonar only no chart plotter and GPS. Great basic sonar, although the new Hook 2 4x is around the same price with horizontal orientation. I have yet to use the new Hook2 line so not sure how they compare.

I would read the reviews on that ad. I think a lot of people were not very happy with the Hook series. Maybe the new Hook-2 will be better.

Oh wow! I had no idea the new ones were so cheap at the base. I tried out the interface at Fred Hall, and was pretty impressed with how much of an improvement it is in terms of responsiveness and resolution. The downscan is pretty awesome too.

Yeah-I’ve seen mixed experiences. I know at least one person who’s had to return their’s and had the same problems on the refurbished model they got. Personally I haven’t had a single issue out of mine (shrugs)
