No YT...No WSB...just off the water report

Didn't see much at all in LJ today but got this as by-catch. 39"...27# and change. Large greenie with the circle hook. Matt's actions/comments/advice gets big credit on this one:

Matt says to me "I always fish one rig on or near the bottom in case I drift over a halibut"...So soon after I get rid of my flylined rig and put a rig near the bottom

Matt says "I'm going to make a turn here and drift with the current"...I follow

Matt says "hey look at your rod, you're getting bit"...I set the hook and proceed fighting this fish very close to Matt

Matt says "that thing's pretty big, would you like me to gaff it for you?"...I say, no I'll do this on my own thank you

Jim

Atta boy jimbo. A beauty for sure. Glad the whimsical Matt gets credit though. I'm gonna hire him as my guide to la jolla

Everyone wants to know: Did you let her bleed out in the water or turn her into jerky? lol Nice fish Jim. Matt is the most entertaining tour guide around.

BTW, I hate being off by an inch on my guess of the fish specs. And no, I did not talk to Matt before I guessed .

Talking

I was going to say 'So Matt, is your hired guide" but it looks like DANNOWAR beat me to it. So I'll just say "NICE BUTT" Jim.

Looks like your taking lessons from roman on how to hold fish...

Greg guessed 10#s originally...

Nice fish Jim. I guessed in the lower 30s.

Just to clarify: Matt didn't catch any fish today AND he was watching the whole time you were reeling in the big halibut and gaffing the big halibut.

You need to take lessons on how-to-pose-for-pictures-with-fish from the guy in the image below....

Nice fish Loco!!!!!

Word of advise to everyone

If you see Matt pull up next to him, drop some bait in the water, count to ten and please make sure your gaff is ready.
