New Gear - New Best Fish

Had all my rods and reels stolen a couple weeks ago. Thankfully, through the generosity from the people on this site and deals at the Fred Hall Show Del Mar I reloaded on replacement gear Friday 3/27 so I could fish Saturday 3/28. Launched at 7am, got bit at 6pm. Current was strong and bird activity was crazy around sunset. 12 hours for one bite got me my personal best yellowtail just over 30 lbs on my spring scale at the beach after landing.

Congratulations Mikey, that is a pig of a yellow. Good karma for having your gear stolen was getting a PB Yellowtail with your new gear.

Way too go Mikey! Damn that sucks to hear about your stolen gear! That's a long time on the water I'm glad it ended with your personal best YT. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure the guy who jacked your gear didn't have a smile on his face that big. Congrats on the fish and overcoming a messed up situation.

That's a great first picture, looks way over 30lbs.

That's awesome when someone sticks it out for 12 hours without a bite to have that happen.

Way to stick it out and recover from the equipment loss. I never leave my stuff on my kayak and keep my stuff inside the house when at home.

Great going, man!

Nice job man! 12 hrs, holy moly. Very nice fish. Me and my buddies met you on the water in long beach a few months back, close to 72nd st jetty. Looks like you're doing well sorry about your gear, hate thieves.
