Nice Jim. Goes to show all the guys that say a Hobie can't be surfed. BTW you were about the only successful Hobie launch Sunday morning for the first several hours.

I use the peddles and rudder coming in, but in the larger surf I also have my paddle out to use as a brace in the event that I turn sideways.

Is the rudder very effective in the surf? i.e. keeping you from getting side way? Can you still using leaning technique?

That's what I've been trying to do the past year and a half... I keep the rudder's release in hand so it'll pop up if it hits the bottom.
