Post Excellent Saturday on SD Bay

Good Evening Fishing Friends,

I am certain some of you are thinking about going out to wet your lines on the the Bay tomorrow. If you are not sure I will tell you you should try to go out because today was an excellent day. I launched from the Shelter Island Launch ramp and Fishinmike launched from the wading beach. The morning started out at cool at sunrise. It warmed up quickly. The water was surprisingly warmer than I expected. There was very little breeze.

Caught a dink calico near the launch ramp. I worked my way up and down from the lower range marker to the pier. Working shallow water to deeper water. Fishinmike did similar and caught most of his fish on the NASNI side.

My best action came using 4 inch ghost shrimp lures with lots of red flakes. Casted let set on bottom and let my yak drift. Reeled a little and dropped again. We both caught and released keepers. I did keep 2 sandies.

Fishinmike: 19 spotties, 2 sandies, 2 Calicos

Bubbacee: 6 spotties, 4 sandies, 1 calico, 2 Hali’s, and one mantis shrimp.

Good luck.
