You probably don't want to run both your FF and bait tank off the 12v battery. I thought about doing that but then you'd probably want a timing switch on the bait tank so it doesnt overflow or get too much water pushing through it. I finally took everyone's advice and just got a 12v and a 6v battery. 12v for the fish finder and 6v for the bait tank. Throw the battery in a cheap box like shown above and wire it up.

im using a 12 volt battery running my fishfinder and bait tank. im using a remote control to turn off my bait tank on an off. also the remote control has 100%,50% and 25% for how much water you want your baittank to produce.

if you use 6v with a 500gph rule pump you will not need a timer.

On the saltwater , electronics will fail . With systems tied together you whole day will be shot .

Will be sufficient for most users . 4-6 hrs operation .10 amp will last 6-8 hrs . I found a 12 amp 6 vlt. Battery that can last me a long summer day without fear if my bait Keeling over .

Will running a 500gph pump on a 12 volt take a beating To my bait? I have a 12v batter that I think have like 50-60 amp hours I run it to my FF and my bait tank. I haven't used the tank with bait in it yet. Is there something I can put in between the battery and the pump that will run the pump slower?

I use a 360 GPH WITH A 6v 12a for the bait tank, and I keep bait alive allllllll day and then some. For my FF I use a 12v 12a battery and I've been on the water 12+ hours with no problems at all. When I first started off I had both to a 12v with a 500GPH pump. My bait got beat up and my battery life was only around 5-6 hours. I would recommend going with 2 separate batteries on 2 different systems. As stated above if it shorts your bait and FF are done, along with your day. I don't use a timer or anything like that. I try to keep the wiring on a kayak as simple as possible and try to keep switches and anything extra out of the mix. I believe in the KISS method. Keep It Simple Stupid. I also re wire everything every season. Keeping a simple system makes this easier. I'm out on the water a lot and salt water is a true enemy of anything electronic.

What your not seeing is that if you run 2 batteries.....6 volt for the bait tank and you won't have to turn it off as it severely restricts the flow of water into your tank. Use the 12 volt battery for your ff. Will run it all day. If you use 1 12volt battery to run both ff and bait tank, then you will have to install an interrupter type switch for the bait tank. Also by using one battery for both, it may not last all day and if something goes wrong and you short it out, you lose both ff and bait tank.
