B.A. Baracus is in LJ 5/7!!!

So I decided to try it again in LJ this morning, yesterday was very windy at the launch and drizzly, today was calm and very nice. The drizzle scared me a little whn I woke up looked outside and saw everything was wet. Almost decided against giving it a try today...ends up good thing I didnt!

Talk to "Handyman" Chuck at the launch, (good to meet you) about the WTF T sharks at his little honeyhole he had the night before and that got me little pumped since I trolled all day nada the morning before. After a super easy launch, (tide was so low we were almost to the cans by the time we got through the break) it was glass all the way to the edge of the preserve. Made 4 greenbacks and was impatient to start fishing so gave that up and dropped a couple behind me. Nothing for a while in Handymans spot so we make a short move...it ended up being a smart idea. Chuck gets bit first and is on, then off, quickly. Then I get whacked, fish on for a sec then off. Drop down and as soon as I put the clicker on another whack and doesnt come back. Drop down another bait, troll a minute or two, see Chuck get hooked up then its my turn again, kinda cool to have a double!...So with no steel leader I get sliced. Chuck decides to go in (wonder why) and I hijack the rest of his greenies, thanks Chuck! Keep trolling and its pretty WFO at this point. I meet Dave who is trolling in the same area and getting bit off to, with 30 lb. being the largest mono leader I had it was like butter. Decided to troll the CD-18 since my bait stick is getting sliced. 5-10 mins later the Rapala stick goes off and this one is gonna stick. This was a better quality than some of the ones that were jumping earlier. Dave said just flag him down when I get one I wanna keep, but this guy wasnt stopping. Took a sleigh ride for an hour and a half! 1.83 miles he took me, straight northwest, the exact opposite direction from the launch (of course haha). Got some help from some really cool guys in a PB who let me use their bigger gaff since my little shortie didnt seem like it was going to be sufficient. Finally got him to the side of the yak, threw a tailrope on him and called it a day...kinda. I look up and Im directly west of #13 tee of Torrey South! Yikes Im far.

Finally got home, snapped some pics, took a shower, now Im gonna cook him...

Shoulda seen the looks on the freeway...hahaha!

Talk about a plug for Malibu Kayaks!

Purdey little guy.

Now this is how you weigh a fish!...75 lb. on the dot.

Ok Im gonna go eat now...good day on the water...
