7/28/13 Sushi By-Catch

Went out chasing the 'right kind' (vermillion rockfish) and ended up with
this by-catch. Caught on a flylined 1-pound live mackerel in the mid-
afternoon about 3 miles off the point.

Lots of porpoise pods out there, with terns, jellyfish, and mola mola. There
was not one single boat for miles. Looked like there were lots more fish
around but I headed in as one is plenty.

Reds were a no-show, but I managed a nice Starry rockfish and Copper
rockfish as well.

Nice bycatch.

I went fishing for octopus and caught a Hali.......I hate it when that happens

By catch is so annoying, that pesky critter probably cost you like 15 minutes of your time.

Way to make lemonade out of that lemon!

I agree with you. I would choose a rockfish over a yellowtail any day
