Thanks brother!
No need, I want to own some traps of my own so advice on the better or more effective designs would be solid! As well as any anecdotes that you have on increased success re: bait or placement. |

If it starts dipping that cold, I will be forced into a cabin with a quickness.

The Tiger Bar in the June Loop is always good eats, and has cheap pitchers of local brew too.
For trees and privacy there are a few campgrounds along Lee Vining that meet that criteria. Right on the creek though, so make sure kids are water safe. The Mobil Station in Lee Vining right at the Tioga Pass has a killer deli too. The campsite at Silver Lake has some nice spots. October will probably give you some nice colors on the trees too. In the fall the big Browns start staging at the exit of Silver Lake as it dumps into Rush Creek. Throw big jerk baits for them. |

Silver Lake is awesome and has a state park with very few amenities or a private park for RV's and has cabins and a restaurant. It is really close to Lee Vining and the Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite Park. You could go up the pass and do a day stay at Yosemite and come back down to Silver Lake it is located on the June lake loop. Here is a link to the private RV and cabin campground. http://silverlakeresort.net/

Mobil station at the Tioga Pass in Lee Vining....gourmet food you will absolutely love...(try the mango tacos)
Visit the Hot Creek volcanic area....5 minutes from 395 in Mammooth. Hot water infuses into a crystal clear creek creating some incredible swimming/ hot tub experiences. Very relaxing. Please watch your kids closely as there are areas that are very hot. Bathrooms and changing rooms are there. The restaurant at Twin Lakes in Mammooth serves 5 star cousine in an incredible setting. Best filet you ever had. Convict Lake is worth a quick stop for the incredible scenery, a mild hike around lake and some fishing. |

fish crowely lake. twin lakes is beautiful. you can get snow any day of the year in the serria. i have fished 100's of days up there, hiked, climbed, camped, skied, backpacked all over the freaking place...my family had condos for years up there.
hike your kids down to rainbow falls or devils postpile. go into the trout fly, fishing shop and they will line you up with some action. Last edited by 2-Stix; 08-18-2015 at 04:07 PM. |

October is going to be very cold. In the teens overnight. Pack accordingly. Plan to cut your own wood and go to big springs to camp. It's free and a bit secluded. It is 9 miles past mammoth turn off take a right on Owens valley road and take first paved left into big spring campground as far as fishing goes if your by yourself fish the streams between silver lake and grant lake. Otherwise fish silver lake. It's stocked more than the others. Hot creek is closed but there are hot springs still open in that general area. If you go out the road with the pool. Just south of airport the hot springs are easily accessible. Just look for cars or well traveled roads. Go to Bodie that is a cool place to check out. Maybe go fish a lake or two near Bridgeport. So many things to do and places to see in mammoth area. But be warned I was there in the beginning of October camping and it was really cold. Ground frozen in the am cold.
