So the hand launch is screwed

what about the mandatory boat ramp it is missing from the remodel?

I thought the boat ramp was required by CA Coastal commission

ramp

The boat ramp is still manditory for a permit for the Waterfront project....and they are still tossing around location options and the financial requirements and logistics for the ramp.
The Coastal Commission insists that the ramp needs to be built...the $1,000,000+ question is WHERE...?

Maximum revenue and minimum utility. Isn't that the motto of California politics? That (2 or 3 car) dropoff area for kayaks should work fine in the winter months before 7am. Sharing that small launch with swimmers is a great idea also! There is also a big difference in the average class of people that hang out around Redondo and La Jolla at night.

The Boat Hoist is open every day of the year except Christmas, and winter hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The extended summer hours begin Memorial Day Weekend. The fee is for a round trip, and prices range from $8.00 for a hand launch size boat, personal watercraft – $18.00, for 18 to 24ft – $30.00, for 25ft and over $40.00. "8 dollars for boat hoist fee is for a round trip for a hand launch size boat"

Sounds like a deal to me, to have them launch that big tandem beast of a Hobie for $8...!
