So what did you get?

Did anyone get anything cool from Santa this year?

My wife hooked me up with a new Handheld VHF radio, Roof Racks for the Yak, First aid kit, Some shirts that are SPF and made for getting wet, and a buch of clothes. Tested out the VHF by going to the Bay yesterday to just see if I could get a radio check, and sure enough someone chimmed back.

Hopefully I can test out the roof racks this Friday by taking the Kayak out. Sure would be a good way to end the year.

So did anyone else get anything fun.

Very cool. I have only used my Fly Rod once about 8 years ago and I asked for some Sardine patterned Flies and got them so I'll have to dig that thing out and give it another try.

I love to cook but have not mastered the art of making sauces. My wife gave me a certificate to some cooking school in Del Mar that has a sauce class coming up soon. I am hopeful that when I graduate, I may be able to come close to producing some of the delicious looking stuff that my idol Yani sometimes posts in this forum.

If the class is any good, I will spread the word.

Bob

I am so SOOOO spoiled by my loving wife!
either she REALLY loves me...
or she just wants me out of the house....
the haul....there's some misc. do-dads, gizmos, 'n' whutnots...
a trout that is a butane lighter, (for camping 'n' such), a pair of fleece mitten/gloves for toastie fishin' hands, a pair of Fox moto gloves for moto'n,
a 12 pack of socks for the little piggies, a speedo/odo/computer for the mountain bike...

last year it was a "Women in Waders" calendar, but the girls were...shall we say...less than hot...
so I requested we go back to the moto girls...oh yeah...
Hot girl moto calendar for keeping track of and planning moto adventures...stays in the garage...

bass calendar for keeping track of and planning fishing trips...stays in the office...

a nice mountain bike jacket from Specialized

a GoPro Wide so I can be just like Kiyo....
I did not even ask for this...she saw it on the wall in the bike shop when buying the computer and jacket, and said...
ooooh...he'd love that...gimme that too!! I love her!

and the biggest suprise of all...she goes into Taylor Tackle and talks to Mike and I made out like a bandit with a brand new shiny Trinidad 16A...
it damn near brought tears to my eyes...I guess that is what women feel like when we get them diamonds....

Thanks.

I was given the new fly rod and reel on Thursday as a early-Christmas gift, so I used it Christmas Eve on a local reservoir and caught/released some nice largemouth.

Dude those gifts rock. I asked for a Waterproof camera from my parents, it was cheap and I asked for what I got. Needless to say it's going back. I'm now leaning toward the GoPro also.

I got the Oregon Scientific ATC 9K Action camera. Pretty cool, much smaller than I thought it would be. I'm getting familiar with it.

A compass (not water proof) and a whistle. Guess either I didn't catch enough fish or take her out to enough steak dinners to match what some of you guys got. Better than a rock.
