Eastern Sierra Report 8/26-8/28

Had a great trip up to Mammoth this past weekend. Weather was incredible....warm days, cool nights and very little wind. Ended up fishing Rock Creek Lake, Lake George, Lake Mary, TJ Lake, Silver Lake and Rush Creek. Tried a new method for me using leadcore line for trolling.....worked great and the go to option in the lakes up their right now. Caught fish at every stop with a few lunkers as well. Hoping to get back up there in October

Nice report and pictures. What were you trolling on the lead core?

Lead Line

Yea...what worked trolling with the lead line?
I have a small Scotty down rigger that I'll bring too.
Did you get any fish trolling Silver Lake?
Rapallas...?

So, a variety of things worked on the troll....Tasmanian Devils, rapalas, needlefish but the good ole Thomas Buyoant 1/4oz in red n gold was the winner. Caught more fish on that lure than anything else. Got some good strikes at Silver lake on the troll but didn't land any. Rush creek was a blast.

I did great at Lake George....the 3rd pic I posted with my PB was from George. I got a couple more that were similar in size that I released. They have been on a serious stocking rotation as late so the "catching" is good right now. Have fun up there!

Rock Creek lake is one of my favorites but I haven't been there in years

A friend of mine owns a condo in Mammoth so I stayed there. I did see a lot of open spots for walk ups at the campgrounds though at Lake Mary and Lake George.

Nice trout! Man, these pics make me miss it up there. I was at Lake Mary in July. That place is amazing. Kayak fishing up there is on the bucket list.
