Black sea bass

I got this one on Saturday on live smelt.I thought it was going to be a white sea bass but to my surprise it was a black sea bass. It pulled harder than the 60 pound white sea bass I caught. I estimated it to be between 40 and 50 pounds.I caught it on 25 pound test and it was about 10 minute fight.it almost made me roll the kayak trying to hook it.ion hooked it revived it and released it .Its good to see those fish coming back I can imagine hooking onto a full size one.it was a good first for me and the only thing I needed to catch that day.

not good to take those bsb out of water. big fine if seen by dfg. I could be wrong but I don't think so. best to de-hook fish while in water, both for fish and you........

Those black seabass are definitely making a comeback for sure. I caught one on the beach in about 4 to 5 foot of water. Needless to say it blew my mind.Name: cropped.jpg

If you are going to poach it, yes you do. If you are ignorant, yes you do. If you are in Mexico where you can keep them, yes the do.

???? I have been fishing A little longer than just yesterday... anyways there happened to be a park ranger there at that time anyway< he was pretty impressed and had no problem with me taking it back out into the the water and making sure it was ok. By the time I realized what I had it was belly skidding on the sand. And of course I had to remove the hook from his lip. So how would you suggest I do that?? Besides they are kinda gamey they taste like a cross between A california condor and a bald eagle..lol So those that are hating STOP!!!

If you guys are upset about me takin the the BSB, just know that in this small town in Mexico they take about 5 a week. Usually bigger than the 120lb fish that I took and gave to the captain of our panga which he used to feed his family.
