Awesome, but everyone hates a tease!

BTW, what is the metal hook you are using there as a sort of stringer called, and where do you get them?

They are called game clips, you can get one for about $15 at your LDS.

I launched after DaveC and Andy into small short period surf. It looked like a very slow day. I just got lucky. I saw nothing on the surface all morning. I one point I thought I saw some birds working way outside, too far for me to paddle.

I was jigging a knife jig in about 120' around the 1/2 way mark and got slammed hard. The whole battle was straight up and down. It did not feel like a yellow. I took my time since this was my first big fish on this kayak (24"-25" beam) and I was well off the kelp. It definitely takes a little more concentration than my eXtreme, but not uncomfortable.

At color I was happy to see it was a YT. It had one hook in the mouth and one in the top of the head (probably contributing to the up and down fight). Twenty-six pounds even. Dave thanks for the pics.

Derek

Nice catch Derek!

Gotta love those open water battles.

Glad to see that that the ol' seriolas are still around.

WTG!

Nicely done, Derek. Congratulations on breaking in the new kayak with a beautiful yellowtail. That's a pretty narrow beam, so it sounds kind of tricky.

Nice ride and nice fish! I've seen those knife jigs with assist hooks and thought they looked cool, now they look much better. Would those qualify in a tournament like the one at Dana Point next weekend? Two hooks?

BTW, I have an extra camp spot at DP next weekend, I reserved two and my buddy bailed. I'll let someone have it for my cost, $82.50. I'll have my wife and kids there. I reserved it for 3 nights starting Friday so I wouldn't have to check out early on Sunday. PM me if interested. Dave

Nice! Another Macski!! You've got to love those SA boats...those guys know what they're doing...although the rear "hatch" is a bit funny with only the rudderskeg controls inside. Center hatch is awesome!
