Sculpin is overpriced and BP is quickly becoming the next stone.

I'd rather go to alesmith or hess.

Obviously if you know me I'm biased toward BP. You say it's overpriced and that's your opinion but supply and demand is the American way and BP cannot make enough Sculpin to produce to the masses. We are spoiled in San Diego because of the mecca of Micro Brews we have to choose from. If BP is quickly becoming Stone, I say hooray because they make good beer as well.

If you are like me, I will pay the extra money for taste any day of the week. I do it with wine all the time.

Ballast Point also gives a industry discount if you are in the F&B Business if you show a pay stub. There are 4 locations
  • Home Brew Mart, Linda Vista
  • BP, Little Italy-San Diego
  • BP, Scripps Ranch
  • BP, Miramar
Little Italy and Miramar both serve food and it is bomb. Chef Colin McGlaggen use to work with me year's ago and he is putting out some very nice items.

BTW- I also enjoy AleSmith, Hess, Green Flash, Alpine and many others. Beer is Good!

I like beer but I don't like paying $15 for a six pack so I checked reviews of Sculpin a while ago to see if it was worth it. I think it's ranked somewhere in the top 50 beers, but as bluesquids mentioned it has to be fresh. If you can get it within 2 weeks or so of brewing then it's good, but after that then it's just average beer and not worth paying extra for. I'll have to check dates here in south OC to see if I can try a fresh batch. In the meantime I'll start up another batch of homebrew!

Pretty much what Moyer said, I'll happily pay the premium as long as you get what you pay for..
