The one that got away

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eah-rM1K8_Y

Unfortunately, the downrigger video of the bite was far more important to me than the fish. Finally got a big fish bite, that stuck, on the camera rig and the camera malfunctions out of nowhere.

I have watched your underwater footage so many times, and this for sure would have been the best. i guess it like fishing you can't land them all.

Congrats on your PB fish.

No good shots holding it. But I got some interesting tape shots.

Fish had a relatively small egg sac, but a really thick top filet. IDK, my PBs keep getting shorter and heavier. Maybe it is the water? Chernobyl? Global Warming? Dinotopia?

Very nice! I enjoy all your videos. I try to pattern myself after you by remaining cool and calm. I still get a little excited when reeling a big Hali in. I'm working on it.

I like the comparison on the two measurements. My question is this, when dfg measures for legality do they do a flat tape measure or what? Congrats on the beautiful fish. Did you get a weight?

You can tell from the shots that the hali is super thick.

How thick was it? Based on the length and weight I'm guessing at least 5inches.

The DFW uses a board, so it will be flat, slid up mouth first and closed to a stop on the end.

I did not get a measurement of the thickness Jorge. It was the most difficult filet job I have had on the top side though.
