Punta Quebrado anyone interested?

On our Asuncion trip some of us spent a couple days at Punta Quebrado a few miles North of Turtle Bay. YT, WSB, Calicos, Halibut, Bonita and Sheephead were caught along with bait size Greenbacks. Sven got a nice Dorado on a Greenie on this trip.

This is where some of the San Diego long range boats stop on their way home to fill out YT limits. It is a very strong fishery.

Actively looking for a few people to make a trip down in April of 2016. I would like to visit our amigo Rossman in Asuncion, fish Asuncion, Punta Quebrado AND sneak in a day or two at Punta Eugenia to check this area out too.

So if you are interested let me know and we can make this happen. One day to drive to Asuncion, fish Asuncion 2-3 days, 2 hours to Punta Quebrado fish 2-3 days, 1 hour to Punta Eugenia, fish a couple days. Back to Asuncion. One day drive home. I would think a total of 12-14 days. INTERESTED???

I'm in. You should have just said "a secret spot somewhere in Baja"

Maybe check the weather. Shari told me that April and May are the worst months for her down there. The local lobsterman told me that May and June are great weather in Punta Quebrada. Who knows better??

2 secret spots somewhere in Baja. Weather, we should be able to get some good days, Ross how was April for you this year? We would have 3 places at a minimum, there are 2 other secret spots in the area!!! Down there we usually just fished the mornings until the wind came up anyway.
With Ross being a YES, this trip will be put on the schedule after WE get back from the NEW YEAR's trip. Let me know your preferred dates, I am leaning for the middle of the month as I leave for Kentucky on the 30th, I would like to be back here by the 25th or so. Tight Lines.

I just checked with Niko and he is in too. Both of our schedules are wide open that time of year. As far as the weather goes, ya pay your money and take your chances. While the locals can talk about historical weather patterns, I think everyone is clueless with this current situation. I can tell you that this year March and April were very pleasant with may and June being quite cool, mainly because of the water temp being in the 50s. Very little change in wind conditions in any of those months. Slight off shore in the morning and freshening from the wnw around noon and blowing pretty good by 3.

Well with Niko being in MAYBE with a personal invite we can get Troy to tag along with us????? This could be a VERY interesting excursion for some of our retired anglers. And that should put us there for abalone season too.

Please let me know what you can figure out. At least you could do two of the secret locations. Tight Lines.

I may be able to sneak down there and fish a couple days. I wish I could do the 2 weeks but I would lose my spot on my machine.

10 to 13 hours each way. Long days drive, to fish two days you need 4 days MINIMUM. Doable but really pushing it. Personally I would hold out for a week. Tight Lines.

If you were doing a short trip down, I would join too. I can't afford to use all my vacation time but 4-7 days sounds doable.

I don' t mind the driving part if anyone would want to join me to go down for a couple days I'd be game. I'm sure I'm not the only one limited on time.

Yep. The only thing for me is I don't currently have a car I can load a kayak on, let alone 2 kayaks that is Baja ready. That may change around march, but time will tell.

YES lot's of possible great fisheries all within 125 mile radius. AND most of it is untapped by Yakers and small boaters. And now with the truck set up, WHAT would YOU do for a KLONDIKE BAR on a beach in BAJA?????

Looks like a trip I would like too do but April is bad for me.

I plan to be a little north of that area at the end of Feb. I may extend that trip to go further south. I may finally drive to Cabo and east cape just to get it off the list.

This would work out for a Thanksgiving trip, maybe better than APRIL. So let's plan it that way. Someone give me the dates that work for you. Who is doing the turkey this year?

Based on Rossman's post about his trip to that area, it doesn't sound like that area is very Kayak friendly unless you can find a protected area to launch. Maybe you should wait to get more info on the area before you commit to that location.
