There was a similar skin cancer awareness post on the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum a few years ago.

Quite an eye opener.

Like most, I never thought about skin cancer when I was young. Even as my grandparents and mother were regularly getting little bits of their ears, faces and arms cut away, it just didn't sink in. It wasn't until getting severely sunburned on a long July fishing session at La Jolla did I really start taking it seriously. Although I know it won't prevent damage done over the years, I now never go out with sun protection. Long sleeves, long pants, big hat or head cover and zinc sun block on any exposed skin.
