First lj report

Left home at 3:30 from Fullerton met up with my brother around 4 and arrive at lj approximately 530. So we're full of excitement unloading anxious to launch threw ankle slappers. When it was time to find parking the tires where 2' in sand stuck! Waited a good hour till a city worker named Justin brought his tracker and pulled us out (we owe him a case)we finally launch to grey skies and very light breeze and glassy conditions. Met a few awesome guys out there that where willing to give us tips a pointers. Struggled to make bait at first, caught a few and headed out. Trolled and jig for a few hours and nothing. We where heading in and decided to go towards the pier when my line started to play that tune. After 2 minutes of fighting and my Penn 4/0 completely locked down (32# drag) I became very anxious to know what it was. It was 7' thresher that I wanted Nothing to do with. 3 minutes later I'm looking over to see who's around and saw my brother and 2 other comrades that we met out there with there gaffs and a rope ready to help me land what felt like a monster! Lol... Not long after the 65# mono snapped. What a experience, never felt power like that.i have a lot respect for the ocean and the guys that land these beast.

I saw you guys trying to get unstuck on the web cam, that truck looks like four wheel drive, is it? looks like a good first trip even without any yt to show for it.

Is there a better quality image of this, or was this taken with a potato?

Nevertheless, great first outing. Awesome picture. Now if you only had a high resolution copy of it, it would be wall worthy.

That killed the momentum for a minute but no unfortunately it wasn't a 4 wheels drive.

Harry Hill, the truck was stuck for about an hour. The truck was not four by four and our rear right tire was in 2ft of soft sand. To add to the report, there were no boils or bird schools thus no signs of YT. Hopefully next time.

I could see you guys digging, then it looked like you would get in and try it then start digging again. I saw you talking with the guy running the groomer but it didn't look like he stopped to help you. I went away for awhile and when I came back you were gone so I knew you got out. My Dodge gets stuck just looking at sand so I'm looking for a Toyota SR5 4X4. I hate being stuck. Glad you guys got to fish and actually hooked up with something. How was coming back in? Did the surf give you and problems?

If you get stuck like that again try setting your emergency brake just enough to stop the spinning tire, sometimes that will get the other tire to start moving and get you loose, I'm an expert at being stuck.
