Hobie horizontal rod holder, leashes: Any words-to-the-wise?

I've got a bit of new gear and I am looking at putting a Hobie horizontal rod holder on my boat for a little surf security along with some leashes.

Has anyone had success with the Hobie horizontal holder on a Revo 13? Any added strappin' suggestions?

Am wondering if there are some low-profile cam strap cleats that might install in line with a horizontal rod position. Using lighter cam straps might you bundle a light gaff and folding net along the side?

Any rod leash tips or just pad eye it and strap it?

I doubt anyone would run into this problem but I would take out with me a penn 500 and the bolts on the reel clamp were excessively long to where it would eat up the side of the yak when in the horizontal rod holder. I usually unmount the reel and put it in a dry bag now a days, hate cleaning out salt deposits.
