Nope - they get away from the Hobie drive patent by using a ring and pinion arrangement to operate the drive.

Good - we need some competition because I think what Hobie is charging for the 180 drive is flat out way too much.

$550? I could see a lot of people taking their chances on this. Wonder if my MD will fit?

Oh I'll be taking my chances for sure. My office doesn't like Alibaba either, but this will be my X-mas present to me, this year.

You ever see those ads for fishing reels that look just like the $300 one but is only $49.95 made in China..............how did that work out for ya?

They are probably $550 each if you purchase a container of em.

Minimum purchase probably like 40 units.

Anybody notice the name, UBoat? Might as well call the thing a Sinker 10000.

Ugh, bummer. You can reverse engineer just about anything, but its hard to replicate quality.

The absolute last thing I would shortcut is a plastic boat that holds me, and my beloved gear, above the sea....

Alibaba

What a lot of people don't think about is, Alibaba is a company in a communist country. There are no "right to privacy laws" there. That government can access your private information at anytime from that company without a subpoena. It could be auctioned off on the dark web without your knowledge. The next thing you know your credit card has been used somewhere on the other side of the world. Think about it. When it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

You act as if we don't have the same crap happening here. Big brother is watching ALL the time. In any case, most people don't shop on Alibaba since just about everything on the site is sold in bulk.

Looks like a "massage ho-bee", one size fit all. Not a Mirage Hobie.

So do 499 other of you BWE members want to in with me on this smokin’ deal?
The sobering part is that 40 years ago everyone in the States made fun of Toyota and Datsun.
