Found my monster Thursday

Went out thursday for a look around and came back with a new best!!! Just shy of 50lb. Got on the water about 5 and with no moon it was dark. Made my way out to where it looked good and droped down some dead squid on 30lb mono. A few min go by and I get nailed and taken deep into the kelp and broken off. Ok set up again drop down wait, wait nothing so I put the rod in the holder and go for my water. Just then the rod screams again!!! Before I can get to it the fish is goes deep into the kelp again and busts off. Ok thats twice, no more water, no food nothing. Focus dam it. This time rethink. New set up, 65lb spectra and 3ft. 30lb floro. Drop down again work it around for a while then WACK!!! Drag pulling run right into the kelp and then some. Button down the drag and start getting some line back, a few times it was wraped up in the kelp bad but with even presure I could feel the kelp being cut by the spectra. Feels almost like the fish coming off but then right back on. Saw the fish come to the surface in a thick kelp patch and did not know what to think at first little more kelp cutting and a clean gaff shot. Happy days. Paddled over to a boat for a few shots. Thanks Holy Mackerel I think it was you.
