Dana point/Hobie XL bait tank

Launched at 3a.m. picked up 4 greenbacks 2 spanish for the new Hobie XL bait tank. First off my thoughts on the new tank, added 3 more rod holders to make 5. I love how you can space them out, so many options. The new switch "Tony" so simple and flawless. I ran the water level at the low setting 6gal. and the macks thought they were in a mansion. Could easily hold 10 baits before bumping up to 11gal. Primed instantly no issues all day....Love the New Tank, thanks Andy! Soaked a couple until first light in hopes of a , no ghost's just a ghost town. Headed straight out from the headlands 6 miles with a fly lined mac then turned north for a couple miles looking for paddy's. Found 3 paddy's with the third one being my pot o gold! After 4 trips searching off shore and at least 60+ miles on a PA14 "no easy task" i finally got one 24lbs. Fish was caught on a Shimano Butterfly flat fall jig!!!! They would not touch the greenbacks.....

That a lot of peddeling!

Given how far your traveled in the yak, you earned this fish! Nice work. Oh...and being from San Jacinto...I appreciate the road-travel you invested from Banning as well.

Well deserved. I took my PA12 out around 5 miles so I can empathize with you. No easy task at all.

For those going out looking for paddies if you have extra bait after your trips save it. Chunking has been working well to get these fish to bite. Find that paddy and throw chunk bait out. The fish are bitting chunked bait with a hook in it

If you dont have extra bait left over you can always hit up a fish market and buy a LB or two of sardine or mack to chunk with

Let see some pics of the XL tank

NICE!!! It looks more like a yellowfin than bluefin judging by the photo. Which one was it? Thanks.
