Shelter Island 22MAY

Taking a buddy out to Shelter Island to drift butts, I'll be on a mango WS Tarpon 120, he's fishing a green or grey short yak. Launching sometime before 7 if you'd like to join, let me know.

Thanks for asking! I sent my buddy home with an 18" sand bass and a spottie slightly smaller. Caught them both on lizards. I had the most difficult time making bait, finally got a green back. I sent him down to probably 40' and he got raked almost immediately. Went north a bit to fish bass. After I got kicked off my spot near the sparwar center by some bubble gum chewing dolphin hugging girl scout explaining how you need a SUPER SPECIAL SPARKLY BADGE to be on the base, we decided to hit the drift south. Harbor Police were way cooler than she was. Couldn't find bait for the life of me, drifted two large swim baits (9") on the bottom and something hit hard and ripped the tail off. Another got raked again. Launched at 7 and pulled out around 2 so it made for quite the uneventful afternoon. I also saw two other fellas out there on mango colored... aqua-lipticals (HOBIES) Thanks J for the follow up!

Tree huffing dolphin girls...

Yeah they are something else those dolphin people. Anytime you get anywhere near their enclosures they goe ape$##!!%! Myself, I have never been able to make bait in the bay, but I don't really try either. I always go to the bait barge.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like some quality basss!
