I read up on the new area, post questions then jump in the truck and JUST do it. Leaving for Lake Powell for the 1st time in 3 moore days. No electronics, fish finder or gps maps. Just safety gear to include a marine radio, and PFD with whistle and knife. Extra water and a space blanket, fire starter and lot's of common sense. Yep low tech all the way.

I can’t go completely low tech especially on new water. I’ve gotta have Navionics, I’ve been turned around too many times paddling back in the dark and where I’m from, dark is when the banjos start playing, lol.
