LB Wall bangin'.

Heres a week late report due to lack of internet.

But I did a solo trip to the LB Wall last week. Weather conditions were looking nice so I decided to head out on my own.

Launched out of Alamitos Bay around 7am.

Photobucket

Paddled out to the outside part of the wall and the swells were pretty big, but that didnt stop me cause that meant ACTIVE FISH! One my 2nd cast I hooked up on this 13" Cabezon.

Photobucket

Then shortly after I hook up on this 14" Sand Bass.

Photobucket

I had hooked up on another fish which snapped off my biggest hook that I used for the Texas Rig, so I had to use a smaller hook causing me to miss about 6-8 other bites :'(

By around 10am the swells went down and the current stopped flowing, making the fishys go back home to sleep.

Rig: Texas Rig with the new MC Swimbait Jerk Baits!

Its a must. The paddle out is estimated to be 1.5-2 miles.

I'm curious too!
Would it be a good idea to fish it this Saturday if it rains on Friday?
Is the "wall" the one that connects to shore or the stand alone break wall further out? I'd live to try it this Saturday. Although if my 10 yr old son comes with me in his mini-x, I might not get as far as the outer wall!
How's fishing the wall that goes into alamitos bay? Is it best to park and launch from 72nd pl??

I only launched inside LAB cause I was alone. I wouldnt have enough muscle to carry my yak over that sand wall next to the jetty. So I launched at 69th St.

Check the weather conditions for that day, winds, swells, tide changes, etc.

Best results for fishing the Wall is during an incoming/outgoing tide cause of the current. It pushes the fish around out of their homes.

And it is the stand alone wall, the inner wall produces bass, but the outter side of the wall hold lots of other species!

It is a good 30min paddle for the average man. Est 1.5-2 miles from shore.

Thanks! Good info here! I'm assuming you fish the wall from inside of the harbor?

Anybody hitting the wall this weekend 4/14-15?

If anybody is let me know, I want to give it a shot but not sure where to park and all that and where the nearest launch spot is. Hows the bass bite there lately?

If you go early enough theres plenty of free parking on Ocean Ave, we park right before the jetty larking meters.

We surf launch to the right of the jetty.

And the bass bite is insane if the current is flowing!

Good luck out there and be safe!

You don't want to fish after the rain in LB.
