Hey Mitchell, sorry to hear this happened to you. Everyone should go watch scammer payback on youtube and you'll learn how these scammers function and how to not fall into their traps. They're getting more bold now with AI voice replication as well so it's best not to talk to them at all. If you get a call or email from any company about billing or anything where money is involved, never trust it's actually them. Hang up, go to their website and call the number there.

Linking CC to bank account

Most banks will set up your checking/savings account to link to your CC to prevent you from overdrafting, under the guise that it will save you from overdraft fees.

I always explicitly tell my bank not to do that. I would go even a step further and have separate banks for checking and CC. Then having a lower balance checking account for online transactions and paying bills. Then a checking account for income to go in to. Have a internal funds transfer going from one to the other to cover the bills that need to be paid. A little bit of trouble for peace of mind.

I only need a check book for paying my rent.
And buy everything with credit card and pay the balance off each month or pay cash. Most of my bills get paid automatically and I get tex messages telling me I got billed sure beats having to mail out all the bills with postage stamps.

This is the second time, I went out on a limb for a female

That ended badly 😢 😫 😕 😳
😎 hopefully the next is the charm there's luck in odd numbers. I'm done with the internet like Facebook ect.
But if your single and you interact play joke all you want.
But the first red flag is when that person asks for help and money. That usually happens after they get under your skin. No internet action no risk.
Old people are the easiest to take advantage of.
My scam happened on valentine's day during the pandemic. A good title for a movie 🎬 would be the Valentine's day gift 🎁 card scam.
Why not you got your Valentine's time day massacre.

It's pretty bad when you don't trust your self 😕

I'm an idiot 🙃
Because I ignored all the red flags and there was plenty.
My lack of knowledge of dangerous apps being the reason. Now I know better don't toy with these people you will get burned. They spend 24hrs a day trying to get to you. If one happened to show up on my door step I would chop his fking head off with a machete faster than a gun.

Even tho the bank settled...

For a disclosed amount, on the bank zelle scam.
The two outside apps that took over my bank account when i was trying to get a refund.
I decided to pay the disclosed amount to clear my business name. After closing that business when I didn't renew my contractors license. Back in 2008
They sent a letter to the IRS, for the remaining money on the scam I wondering how it will affect my taxes and how much more I will have to pay for bank failure. 🏦

I thought it was over.....

And I could put one of the worst things that ever happened to me behind me and move on.
This event changed me for life mentally emotionally and physically. I want some fking pay back for the damages.
Now because of a BS law ,the bank sent me a 1099c a cancelation of debt notice. And now I have to pay income tax on scammed money balance. After paying the bank a amount to settle.
This fking shit ain't right.

The older I get the more simple things need to be.
