Com on Zed, don't scare off any would-be jackpot contributors, I plan to launch and land without any surfing involved. 2-3 footers SHOULD be cake.

I am manning the grill and will raise the ante with Wanda's world renown decadent brownies.

If you are worried about the surf, bring some surf fishing stuff just in case. If it is as good a forecast as stated, get there 5:30-5:45 latest to make sure you get in. $15 parking, so car pool if you want to save some money.

Too short notice for me. Andy, you know that 2' - 3' will make for some interesting landings ...

NOAA Marine forecast has W and S swells at 1' and wind less than 5mph for Sun. A minus tide at landing time should also be good for killing the surf there, but be ready to walk your yak in over the reef. And land with your drive out, unless you have it rigged weedless .

There seems to be yellows all up and down the coast in the 200 to 300ft range. Newport is killing them just south of the harbor. Half day out of Dana had a dozen today and they can't make the box on a half day. Seaforth had 90 today.

The dana boats have been catching yellows along the entire stretch from the SC pier down to Box canyon in 200-300 ft.

I really want to try and hit it, but from what I heard it is all metered schools they stop on, so it may require some serious ground coverage. Also, a definite surf launch. I am interested in making the shorter run to Box canyon to see if they are still around in reasonable numbers there.

That "Box Canyon" area is a good hour plus commute from the launch. Probably more. Getting out to 50ftm straight out from SanO is still pretty far, maybe half to 45min. Lots of options. Dont want to sway anyone since theres $$$ and smack at stake.

Im in but still undecided on menu.

There are certainly nice fish as close as the surf there. Paddle to the right depth, for YT, is going to be about the same as the NW Corner at LJ. Then you need to find em. A group spanned out, looking for baitballs might be just the ticket. First guy has to play his fish till the others converge though lol.

That might be a little underestimated Greg. I have a spot just outside the last kelp almost straight out from the launch and it is 2.25 miles from the launch and the area where the squid were last year is . 5 to..75 miles beyond that and you are still less than 75 ft of water. Not sure of the distance to the NW corner but I would estimate less than 2 miles. But like you said lots of options. I finished last year with a 30 pound flatty less than 200 yards from the truck. Really going to be interesting to see what this group comes up with.
