Humpin' and Fishin'

If you've never seen a Whale from your kayak...now is the time...!
There were three whales within easy peddling/paddling distance yesterday.

They are so close and this mother and baby...if you zoom in you can see the baby's tail next to moms back....have been here for a couple of weekends. They are soooo close to the harbor here in Redondo that the SUP folks are all over them.

The Bonito are still biting on the south side of the canyon...I had a limit in less than a half hour although the Sheerwater birds are a PITA. This is the best and longest bite on the Bones that I've seen in years. Usually they are gone by late December or early January at the latest.
Tony/Fulrack says I shouldn't admit that I eat Bonito...people might think less of me...LOL!!! Phook It...the tuna rolls, poki, and spicy tuna was delicious last night!
I get my new 2015 PA 14 on Monday...yahoo!

I made sashimi out of a couple that we caught last time we were out. It didn't last long. The poki, I think I had too much liquid. Got too mushy.

Gotta bleed em & ice em fast, and not bang up the filets.

Great photos. Looks like the SUP-ers are about to jump on the whales back. Grays are common in close but humpbacks are not. Cool you got to see em. Bonito are pretty good eating fish, on top of being fun to catch. I make a good civeche out of them, or just steam it and use for tuna salad. What size were the bones? Mike
