Story about Josh and squids on the UT

I just saw this article on Josh Pruitt, Jon Schwartz, and the squids in La Jolla.

WOW!!! Amazing article and experience. Making me think about carrying snorkel gear when I go fishing.
Thanks for posting.

The photos and article are both pretty awesome.

I followed the link on UT to the bluewaterjon website where there are more photos. http://www.bluewaterjon.com/article/article12.html

The pictures are really magnificant. I wouldn't mind paying for some nice framed poster sized prints if they are available.

The stand up cast by Josh with the (8ft?) rod is crazy! Very humbling... I hear about sight fishing off of kayaks at La Jolla, but seeing it is something else. A level of kayak fishing that I know I will never be able to reach.

If you go to the UT article first: make sure you click on the right side of the screen where it says "more images of the squid". It's a better version of the story with some great photos from our little session.

Thanks, pchen. That would be a Seeker Ulua 93H (9' 4"). We had Yellowtail swim by the kayak and splash Jon from three feet away and many followers, but never got one to smile for the camera. Those fish were very lucky that day. We also released a huge Black Sea Bass as well, but the squid photos kind of stole the show.

Jon Schwartz is an amazing water photographer. He even made my White Sea Bass smile for the camera. Those photos are ridiculous!

Awesome shot/story guys. I hope you got everything back and didn't lose too much, Jon. I tried to get everything that was floating back on your yak.. Anyway, your pictures are sick..

That's awesome, but who would have the idea to put the squid in their mouth?

All jokes aside, the pictures are just awesome.

Jon, Your Photography has come a long way!! Those are some truly epic pics...

I need someone to do a photo shoot of sharks caught from a yak from the sharks perspective... interested? (no workmans' comp of course)
