There is NO danger of drowning if you fall in the water while wearing waders. The water that might get in (if you don't wear and adjust properly the belt that should go around you're chest area) is not any heavier than the surrounding water. What you can't do is lift yourself above the surface of the water(only if a large amount of water got inside) the weight of that water would prevent you from lifting yourself back in the kayak. If that was to happen, you would just remove the waders while still in the water and then climb in the kayak. Jim Sammons, many years ago posted videos of this while showing it in a swiming pool.
