The benefits of a fish clip? Can i just bring some rope and tie it to my fish? Also how do i land with my fish?

The benefit of a Game Clip or a rope with a spike on the end is that you will get to keep more of the fish you catch. Dealing with getting a loose rope through the gill rakers and out the mouth of a WSB or Halibut can be painful also. In general, anything besides your rods and paddle that require 2 hands to operate are not the best idea.
